Building a world, one character at a time.

Boris

  1. This is a character that Brianna Jean rolled randomly using my tables.
  2. What is this character’s name? - Boris
  3. What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Brianna rolled Angel, and elected to choose a Belare, which is unique to the Esper Genesis setting. They are energy beings who reside in suits in order to interact with the physical world.
  4. What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Boat Captain/Space Ship Captain
  5. How old are you? - Adult
  6. Describe your physical appearance. - Being an energy being, most of the description is about the suit. The suit is well-constructed and has sensor modifications that allow for improved ship movements and a more effective captain. Boris's suit matches the same color as the ship. The suit is a mixture of metals and polymers, with most of the metal being on the outside. Belare are secretive about the internal construction of their suits to prevent tampering or hacking. Boris has welded or emblazoned medals or filigrees on himself that work like tattoos in certain regards, especially of places he's been to and has enjoyed. The emblem of his ship is over his heart.
  7. Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Quirky, Lonely, Trustworthy
  8. What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - Boris hates the player characters. This is due to messing with Boris (fridge magnets on his person), other people being on his ship and moving things around, they are loud, etc. There is just a fundamental difference between being an energy being versus an organic. DM is free to invent an pre-existing history.
  9. What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - Boris needs to convince his teenage child Glitch to give up their hooligan ways. Boris and the other parent keep in touch, but while Boris is content to explore and stay with his ship, the other parent is more free spirited and often going off on adventures, sometimes top secret kind-of missions. So naturally, Boris is the more stable parent to raise Glitch. Glitch takes after the other parent and wants to go explore and get into adventures. So the quest that Boris wants the players to undertake is to take Glitch along with your party to go retrieve some missing cargo from a crashed ship.
  10. What would be their reward for succeeding? - Boris is will to offer some credits and offer discounts if they succeed. Depending on the severity of the retrieval mission will either convince Glitch that he needs to stick with Boris OR he will be inspired to actually seek proper combat training/education in order to be a more successful adventurer in their own right.
  11. What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - If the players don't convince Glitch to give up the hooligan ways after this mission, Boris will not award as much money and the discounts as were being rewarded, due to the still rambunctious and wild behavior of Glitch. If something really bad (Glitch is damaged or injured), less money. If something REALLY REALLY bad happens to Glitch, NO money and the authorities are called on you.

Optional Questions - not required

  • Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - Boris has a vocal coder on his suit that he has switched over to adopt a Slavic/Russian sounding accent, to match with his name.
